We regularly share true stories of animal rescue and rehabilitation, showcasing the power of life's renewal. Each story testifies to the animals' resilience and the love of our community.
During a rescue operation, our volunteer, Ball, discovered a stray cat that was bleeding and appeared very weak. Seeing this poor little cat made Ball feel uncomfortable, so he immediately decided to take her home.
After several weeks of careful care, the cat gradually regained her health. Ball named her “Lucky.” Under Ball’s nurturing, Lucky slowly became chubby, lively, and much healthier. Ball spent time every day playing with Lucky; they chased toys, climbed to high places, and even watched TV together.
However, as time went by, Ball noticed that Lucky was becoming increasingly weak and had not had a bowel movement for several days. After a veterinary examination, it was found that Lucky was suffering from colonic disease. Despite Ball doing his utmost to care for her, Lucky quietly left this world after being with him for three years. Bo Ge felt very upset.
To commemorate Lucky, Ball decided to hold a Buddhist funeral for her. He hoped to express his remembrance of Lucky and to show respect for life in this way. At the funeral, Ball quietly recited sutras for Lucky, wishing her happiness in the next life.
During this time, Ball demonstrated a good example of a responsible pet owner. He respected every life and showed others how to love and care for animals through his actions. Lucky will forever hold a special place in Ball’s heart. Even though she has left, he often mentions her, and the love and memories Lucky brought to Ball will always exist.
